Exploring Rep Weaves and Related Warp Faced Weaves with Lucienne Coifman
October 15–17, 2010
Participants will gain an understanding of the techniques
and applications of rep weave through lecture, discussion
and weaving samples. Drafting, block designs for 4 to 8
harness and rep pick up techniques will be discussed as well
as color interactions. Each student will be working on their
own loom first then experiment with others.
Objectives: Every loom will be set up in advance with
a different draft (received a month earlier). Each
participant will have a chance to work at all the looms and
will go home with a complete portfolio, full of samples,
drafts and many genuine rep weave projects.
- Dressed floor or table loom
- Extra warp and weft threads
- 2 stick shuttles same width as the sample
- Ball winder
- A camera, for the many studies and finished pieces on display
- Material fee $15 for a complete set of drafts
