Create beautiful jewelry by weaving with wire and thin sheet metal (copper, brass and aluminum).
Each participant will create a woven pendant or pin. We will play with basic weave structures,
color and shape. No experience necessary and these techniques can be easily reproduced at home
with a few hand tools.
Anastasia Azure combines ancient textile techniques, traditional metalsmithing
and contemporary materials to create jewelry and sculpture. She earned her MFA in
Textiles from Rhode Island School of Design and her BFA in Metals from California
College of the Arts. She has been a resident artist at Umass Dartmouth and the
Appalachian Center for Craft. Presently she resides in Providence, Rhode Island,
working as an interdisciplinary teaching artist, jewelry designer and sculptor.
